Roses are perfect for summertime sipping

Roses are great wines for summer. While lots of folks think they’re like White Zins, roses are “serious wines”. They range from crisp bone-dry aperitif wines to fruit-juicy quaffers with a sweeter finish. What’s your favorite? I totally agree, I started drinking rose wines a few summers ago. This quickly became my wine of choice and now the problem is that I can’t pass it up during the rest of the year as well. Plus, once I discovered Veuve Clicquot made a rose champagne, I was in heaven. Seems like there is nothing better than a glass of rose on a nice summer day – or in the middle of a snowstorm for that matter.
Hi Glenn,
What are a couple of your favorite roses? If you want to spend a bit, well, quite a bit less on a delicious sparkler, try Segura Viudas rose for under $15. It’s a cava from Spain.
I am really on the Rose bandwagon this summer! In the past I found them to be too dry but a few that I have found recently have just the right combination that I really enjoy. It is really giving my summertime Sav Blancs a run for their money!
Hi Susan,
Great to hear you’re enjoying roses this season. They’re very versatile & fun!
